Please join the Rivendell Trails Association and Members for our annual meeting, dinner, and auction on May 15 from 4:00-7:00pm at Rivendell Academy. Dinner is free for members, $10 per person for non-members. The live and silent auction will include donations from a variety of local businesses. At the end of the event, we will hold a special ribbon cutting ceremony for Angela's Trail, the new, accessible, one-mile section of the Cross-Rivendell Trail between the Academy and Townshend Road.

As much as we would love to see you all in person again this year, Covid-19 continues to make that an impossibility.

Instead of our usual Annual Meeting, Dinner & Auction at Hulbert Outdoor Center, we will be holding a to-go drive up dinner and raffle from 4-6 p.m. at Rivendell Academy, followed by a virtual annual meeting via Zoom at 7 p.m. You can still get the traditional lasagna dinner you know and love, and enter in a raffle to win some lovely items from local businesses!

The order form for the dinner will be available starting the week of April 5th on our website. Lasagna dinners are $5 per serving. Each meal comes with a raffle ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased for $2 per ticket or 4 for $5.

UPDATE: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will have to indefinitely postpone this year’s Annual Meeting. We hope to reschedule this event and/or create an online auction. Please stay tuned.

Help support the Cross Rivendell Trail as you hike or run over beautiful Sunday Mountain!

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. at Rivendell Academy in Orford, NH. Transportation to trailhead provided. Kids/Family Critter Fun Run at 9 a.m. (prizes awarded for best critter costumes!), 3 and 6 mile hike-or-run starts at 10 a.m. Food, kids events, raffle and entertainment!

This year, registration includes a free RAMBLE T-shirt, post-event food and a raffle ticket! T-shirt design this year by Westshire 4th grader Toby Sonsalla.

Registration is $20 ($10 for kids 12 and under) when you pre-register. Day-of registration is $25 and $15 for children 12 and under. Children under 3 are free.

Note for those who have attended the RAMBLE before: this year we are dropping the competitive race component for a more relaxed, family-friendly feel. Fun for all ages and stages!

Join us as we partner with the Orford libraries again to bring you the second annual Sundaes at Sunday on Sunday event! A beautiful hike with ice cream at the top. What could be better? Meet at 2 p.m. at the Dame Hill Road trailhead parking area in Orford, NH.

Help us celebrate National Trails Day this year by getting out on the CRT! We would love to get as many people as we can out hiking, and lending a hand by clearing debris, picking up trash, and reporting back to RTA about any trail issues that need extra attention, such as trail erosion, faded blazes, broken signs, large down trees or overgrown limbs. Over the summer, we will be working on the trail and you can help us prioritize which sections to hit first. You can report issues and let us know about any work you did here.

When you're done, head over to Gladstone Creamery next to Wing's Market in Fairlee for a free small ice cream cone! Just say you were out on the Rivendell Trail for Trails Day.

PRE-EVENT HIKES:

1 P.M.: Lake Morey Walkaround. Meet outside Hulbert Outdoor Center for an easy and beautiful 6-mile walk around Lake Morey with the Green Mountain Club. On paved roads.

2 P.M.: Winships Hike or Snowshoe (depending on snow). Meet outside Hulbert Outdoor Center for a short, kid-friendly hike to a beautiful view of Lake Morey from above.

Do you hike the CRT regularly? If you have a section that you frequent and would be willing to help keep it in good shape, consider becoming an RTA Trail Adopter! We are need of volunteers to assist with light trail maintenance like cleaning up fallen branches, cleaning up trash, and reporting larger issues to RTA so we can take care of them. Already a Trail Adopter? It’s time for an update. Join us for the Trail Adopter Tea to find out more, learn how to use our online trail maintenance reporting forms, and sign up for a section. Tea, coffee and light refreshments provided.

Celebrate the return to the light on the shortest day of the year with a short (1/4 mile), lantern-lit walk in the snowy woods, and Solstice stories and hot chocolate by a fire. Lantern walk will happen around 5:30. Lanterns provided by Rivendell elementary students! You can also make your own simple lantern to bring, we will provide tea lights. Dress warmly and bring a mug for hot chocolate! Meet at Rivendell Academy in Orford.

The 14th Annual Rivendell Ramble to benefit the Rivendell Trails Association is coming up on Sunday, September 23rd! There will be several options for participants, including a 6-mile hike starting at 8 a.m. at the Dame Hill Rd trailhead parking area, 5K and 10K races at 10 a.m. starting at Rivendell Academy, and new this year, a kids' "critter costume" fun run! Kids should come dressed as their favorite forest creature. We'll have live music, food, and prizes! Pre-register and be entered to win cool stuff from local vendors.

Please Note: With the exception of the 6 mile hike, all race options start and end at Rivendell Academy. Transportation to trailheads provided. Hikers should meet at the Dame Hill Rd parking area. Transportation back to your vehicles at the end of the event will be provided.

Join us for ice cream sundaes at the top of Sunday Mountain on Sunday, July 15th! We will meet at the Dame Hill Rd trailhead parking area at 3 p.m. and enjoy a hike up this beautiful trail before indulging in an afternoon treat. The hike is about 4 miles round trip and easy-to-moderate terrain. Kids 5 and up will do fine on this hike. 

We are helping Marcia's family celebrate her 80th birthday and her dedication to the Cross Rivendell Trail with a hike to the summit of Bald Top, where there will be a bench dedication at 12:30 p.m.

The hike begins at about 11 AM from the parking area at the top of Bald Top road.  On the way down, we will hike Marcia's trail down the west side of the mountain to Blood Brook Road, where we will leave a few cars. Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you on the 30th!
